August 2007: Playing Piano

I bought an electric piano in August. It's a Kawai CA 51. It almost feels and sounds like the real thing but doesn't need tuning and can be played with headphones (a feature that my neighbors greatly appreciate when I'm playing at night). It has wooden keys with graded hammer action and lots of features for mimicking a real piano such as string resonance.

I should mention that I've had piano lessen for over ten years when I was a kid. I didn't play at all after my move to the U.S., and finally decided that this has to change. I am now practicing almost every day. It's a lot of fun!

My new Kawai CA 51

Here are a few mp3s of pieces I am playing. It's still far from perfect, but it's a start, at least. Stay tuned, more should be coming in the next months:

You need to have the QuickTime Player installed. Get it here.

Johann Sebastian Bach - Well-tempered piano, Preludio I.

Ludwig van Beethoven - Sonata Pathetique, Op. 13, 2nd movement

Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune

Sergei Rachmaninov - Prelude in C Sharp Minor, Op.3 No.2.
