November 2003: Turtle Mountains Wilderness

Check box, if you don't want to see comments when enjoying full-size pictures.

I've spent Thanksgiving Weekend with friends from the San Diego Hiking Club in the Turtle Mountains Wilderness. The large remote area is located in the eastern part of California, close to the border to Arizona, between Needles and Vidal Junction. We were a group of about 15 people and had a great time hiking, roasting a turkey (and lots of other goodies), exploring an old mining site, and enjoying spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

Beyond Moon and Venus

Carson's Well

Bushdrums

Why doesn't it start?

Between chollas

Scary find

Ready to bite

Mexican Hat

Sunrise over Turtle Mountains

Mopah Springs

Twister in the sky

And yet another sunrise...
